Joe Jackson is going to court to try to gain control of his late son Michael Jackson's estate. Joe was left out of the pop stars will, so attorney John Branca and family friend John McClain have been named to preside over MJ's affairs, to Joe's dismay.

Speaking after a hearing date for October 6 was set, lawyers for Joe insisted there is a wider issue at stake.

His attorney Brian Oxman said: "I think it's an important issue for all fathers around the country and around the world that when their child dies they should have a say-so in their child's estate.”

Weitzman said: "As I've said before, Mr. Jackson's
appeal is not well taken.”

As well as taking action against the Michael Jackson estate, Joe is also pursuing a wrongful death suit against Conrad Murray, the doctor accused of administering the lethal dose of anaesthetic Propofol which killed the 50-yuear-old singer in June 2009.

It's been a long, trying year for John Travolta and his family following the death of his 16-year-old son Jett, and the actor has

now decided to try and move on from an ugly extortion court case that stemmed from the loss of their son.

A Bahamanian court has now dropped charges against a paramedic and lawyer who allegedly tried to extort $25 million following

Jett's death, according to People.com. The case was declared a mistrial last year, and John said in a prepared statement that he

"concluded that it was in my family's best interest for me not to voluntarily return to the Bahamas to testify a second time at

trial."

"Almost a year later, the long pending status of this matter continued to take a heavy emotional toll on my family, causing us to

conclude that it was finally time to put this matter behind us," he continued.

The accused parties allegedly threatened to go to the media if Travolta refused to pay the millions of dollars for a "Refusal to

Transport" document that Travolta had signed the day his died while on a family vacation in Freeport. Jett, who had autism, died

after suffering a seizure on Jan. 2, 2009.

John and wife Kelly Preston are expecting a baby later this year.

"I am grateful and appreciative of the dedication, hard work and support provided by the Office of the Director of Public

Prosecutions and the Royal Bahamas Police Force while handling matters associated with the attempted extortion that targeted my

family in January of 2009. Throughout the investigation and prosecution, my staff and I remained fully supportive of all requests

for assistance from law enforcement representatives even though this cooperation was at a great emotional cost to my family.

Unfortunately, in early October of last year the first trial of this matter resulted in a mistrial. Almost a year later, the long

pending status of this matter continued to take a heavy emotional toll on my family causing us to conclude that it was finally time

to put this matter behind us. Therefore, after much reflection I concluded that it was in my family’s best interest for me not to

voluntarily return to The Bahamas to testify a second time at trial. We are thankful to the people of The Bahamas for the

friendship, love and support they provided to us during this matter."

The forthcoming Spice Girls project, titled Viva Forever, will use the girl group’s music, but “won't be a tribute or bio show”

of the "Wannabe" hitmakers. Instead it will analyze the fickleness of modern fame in the era of instant celebrity, which the Spice

Girls predate.

Producer Judy Craymer said: “We live in a world dominated by people wanting to be famous. What the Spice Girls did was before

those shows became really what they are, and before the world become slightly obsessed by such shows.

“Viva Forever will encompass the Spice Girls ethos of friendship, identity and being true to yourself, it won't be a tribute or

bio show, nor will it feature characters with any of the names of the famous five piece.”

The show will be written and produced by Judy – who was behind the stage adaptation of musical Mamma Mia! - with comedian Jennifer

Saunders. Although it analyzes fame, Judy said it would still include more light-hearted elements.

“It has a glimpse of the underbelly of TV talent shows, an invented show, and a little bit of comedy romance,” she said.

The Spice Girls – Mel B, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Mel C and Geri Halliwell – all met late last year to discuss the musical

and Mel B, 34, has revealed how pleased they are to be working with Judy on the project.

She said: “All five of us are really super excited. We don't do anything unless all five agree.

"All of us loved Mamma Mia!. We needed someone who would have a great vision alongside ours."

The musical will reportedly feature 14 of the group’s songs and is expected to open in 2012.
